So I had made a cutting board for my mother back…oh lets say 40 odd years ago..in shop class, and she used it all the time, and it finally just gave up the ghost. So, when your mom wants a new cutting board, you make her a new cutting board…. It had to be fairly lightweight and she wanted it to match her cabinets. So, hickory it had to be, and an end grain was going to be to thick/heavy, so sometimes simple works well.
